Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior official commented the incident left him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
