Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his first championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had led commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet defended four early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
